On Arjun’s wishlist: A twohero action comedy like the ones in Hollywood

- Prashant Singh

Be it romcoms such as 2 States (2014) and Ki & Ka (2016); comedies like Mubarakan (2017); or action films such as Gunday (2014) and Tevar (2015), Arjun Kapoor has had a tryst with various genres till date. But there’s still one genre that the actor yearns to experiment with. “Mujhe actually ek action comedy film karni hai, something like (the Hollywood hit) Bad Boys. But till date, I haven’t been offered anything that has such a combination. Even Men In Black (1997) is a good example of such a movie. I don’t know how to describe it but when I say an action comedy, it shouldn’t be too heavy or too light,” he says.

Arjun says that the “idea is to mix the two genres (action and comedy) nicely”. He explains, “In India, the best example would be Dishoom (2016). In fact, I’d also love to do a nice two-hero action comedy film. It will give me an opportunity to just enjoy myself in a good-looking action film that also has a heavy dose of comedy. It’s a great genre for someone like me who hasn’t done it till date,” he says.

Currently, Arjun is busy shooting for Raid director Rajkumar Gupta’s next film. “Yes, right now, I’m neck-deep in Rajkumar sir’s film, which is a dramatic, espionage thriller. It has a lot of elements that I’m very keen on trying, so, that’s a tick mark on my list. Now, an action comedy would be very exciting, because that’s exactly what I haven’t done yet in my career,” says Arjun.

“However, if you ask me as a viewer, I like watching all kinds of films, barring horror. Horror nahi dekhta main,” he signs off with a laugh.
