Sayantani doesn’t think #MeToo movement is for any one gender or industry

- Shreya Mukherjee

At a time when the clamour in India against sexual harassment is getting louder and #MeToo stories are coming out almost daily, actor Sayantani Ghosh says that she has never been propositioned at any point in her career.

“I haven’t [faced it]... maybe a few passing remarks here and there,” says the actor, adding that #MeToo isn’t to do with the entertainment industry alone. “I don’t think that the whole movement is industry- or gender-specific in any way. It has got to do with the human mindset — that needs to change. There’s this wrong notion that one needs to follow a certain route to success. There’s nothing compared to hard work. I’ve always believed in it. Also, for me, my dignity is precious,” she asserts.

The actor, who has been a part of shows such as Adalat, Mahabharat, and Naamkaran, and a few Bengali films, says that besides acting, there’s something else that she enjoys — dancing. Though she isn’t a trained dancer, the actor doesn’t miss any opportunity that comes her way through her TV shows or films.

“I’m interested in dancing and have never shied away from performing. In the coming time, I’d love to do a dance reality show. I do watch a lot of dance shows. Apart from that, in my free time, I’m mad about TV series, be it Game of Thrones, This is Us, The Handmaid’s Tale, Westworld… They’re making such series so well,” says Sayantani, adding that she, too, would like to do such a series, if a good offer came her way.
