Mrunal Thakur loves comfortable and sustainable fashion. “I love khadi and Mumbai’s weather supports fabrics such as khadi and linen. They are comfortable, chic and keep you connected to the roots,” says Mrunal.

The 26-year-old actor, last seen in this year’s film Love Sonia, made her acting debut on TV and starred in many Hindi and Marathi films. Initially afraid of being papped, she later learnt the trick was just to be confident. “You have to wear anything with confidence. I wear what makes me comfortable rather than following trends,” she confessed, and shared her favourites with us:

Your favourite fashion piece?

Sweatshirts, loose denims or bootcut denims and sneakers.

What are you bored of seeing?

Lacy dresses and bodyhugging dresses

Your fashion icon?

I love Kalki’s style and look up to her. Priyanka Chopra, Victoria Beckham are a few favourites. I especially love the way Victoria carries pantsuits and monochromes. Sometimes I even like Rihanna and her quirky looks.

Is diet a crucial part of your fitness? How do you follow?

I make sure to eat homemade food. While travelling I cut down on carbs and increase protein intake. Talking about workout, I like to shuffle between dance and yoga. Recently, I have started practising and learning Tychi for a movie which is really helping me. I believe that most of us don’t enjoy workout and so losing weight becomes difficult. One should enjoy the form of workout they have chosen and feel motivated to do. Don’t just stick to one workout routine to get better results. Try different forms.

I eat a lot of fruits and survive on that. I substitute my meals with raw vegetables when on a diet. Drinking warm water is the best thing. You can add a pinch of cinnamon to warm water or even honey. I would also recommend that people should avoid pickles, papad and fried food when on a diet and eat sugary food just once a week.

When it comes to beauty treatments, do you go for home remedies?

Yes, I believe in home remedies rather than artificial products. I apply leftover fruits which really helps me. Rubbing tomato on the skin really helps and so does lemon. I apply a pack of malai and turmeric once a week. For my hair, I apply aloe vera.

You have to wear anything with confidence and be yourself; this is the most important and difficult. I wear what makes me comfortable MRUNAL THAKUR ACTOR
