Rajshri Deshpande calls Priyanka Chopra a ‘wonderful woman’
Rajshri Deshpande says she loves to be surrounded by powerful women and the actor got the chance to do just that on the sets of the Priyanka Chopra-starrer The Sky is Pink, directed by Shonali Bose, in which she has a cameo.
Rajshri says she admires how Priyanka, despite being a global star, remains very true to her work and puts in a lot of effort with every scene.
“I love to meet women who love to follow their heart and wok on their craft. I like being around such inspiring and powerful women. Look at how Priyanka functions. What a wonderful woman she is. I absolutely adored her. Not even once did she say that she’s tired. She is working 12-14 hours a day at a stretch,” shares Rajshri.
“She was giving her best all the time...didn’t mind re-takes. Priyanka, besides being a brilliant actor, is a star too. But she has no airs. She is a humble human being. I had a great time shooting the film,” she adds.
The actor, who has had a great year with the successes of the web series Sacred Games and the film Manto, says that it was the idea of collaborating with Shonali that made her say yes to this film, even though she has a small role in it. “[Shonali] is a lovely, warm person. It may be a small role but a lot of times you learn even by looking at someone and how that person is handling something,” she says.
Rajshri also feels that worrying about the length of one’s role in a film is a thing of the past. Now, it is more about what one can offer even through a small part. “There is no calculation for length of roles anymore. Earlier it used to be that actors should not do smaller roles as that’d ruin your chances at lead roles. Today, it’s just about characters,” she concludes.
