‘I am a big fan of Nitesh sir’s work’

Shraddha Kapoor’s kitty is full with an ambitious biopic, Saaho, and her latest project, Chichore. While her horror-comedy, Stree, has become one of the biggest hits of the year, was this an impetus to sign another comedy? “I don’t think it’s only about the genre,” says Shraddha.

“At the end of the day, if the story just connects with people, then that’s the be-all and end-all of a film doing well, and penetrating into people’s hearts. With films such as Stree and Badhaai Ho this year, people connected with real films. And they provided the required entertainment at the same time. Though it’s a bit early to speak about it in detail, but what I can say is that Chichore is an absolutely brilliant script. I am a big fan of Nitesh (Tiwari; director) sir and his work. I am really happy to be part of a film that has such great content,” she adds.

On asking if Saina Nehwal is one of the most challenging parts that she has ever played, the actor says, “Honestly, I think every film has its challenges and its demands. So, I wouldn’t be able to say that. But all I’d say that it is definitely a very physically demanding film.”

Though Saina biopic is a woman-oriented film, Shraddha has shared screen space with most contemporary heroes of her time. So, when asked about a senior actor who she would love to pair up with with, she says that she is unable to choose just one name. “I have an endless wishlist. If I get to work with the Khans, Hrithik Roshan or Akshay Kumar, or even Ranbir Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, it will be great. I wouldn’t categorise them. Of course, I look up to all these people, and admire them tremendously. I’ve grown up watching some of their films. But honestly, it’s also the kind of films that are offered to you, and how the script is. A lot depends on that. There are so many factors involved. I can say I’m a huge fan of Mr [Amitabh] Bachchan. He is a legend. People come and go, but there is just one Amitabh Bachchan. He is a legend, and even the youth has a strong connect with him. He is a big inspiration.”
