Nora’s Arabic twist to Dilbar

- Rishabh Suri rishabh.suri@htlive.com

After making waves in India with her dance moves on the rehashed version of Dilbar in Satyameva Jayate, Nora Fatehi released the song in a different language — Arabic! In the new version that released yesterday, she was not just seen dancing but was also someone who was behind the microphone.

She tells us, “It was a scary feeling, doing two things. I produced as well as sang in the music video for the first time. I entered these two different worlds...I am impressed with the fact that we pulled it off, that too with a song like Dilbar, which has been doing so well, internationally.”

The version in Arabic has, of course, undergone some changes. “We gave it (the Arabic version of Dilbar) a Moroccan and Middle-Eastern twist, but kept most of the wordings to Hindi so that it would resonate with the Indian audience,” says Nora.

She adds, “I wanted the video to be filmy and that was whole vision right from the start when we got together for the song. I said, ‘The video has to be filmy, I want it to look like a Bollywood film with romance and nakhra’. My team asked me: Are you sure? Because the song is Moroccan and Arabic, why not stick to those visuals?’. But I needed two cultures to come together and made it happen.”

The actor is now set to be seen in films such as Bharat and Batla House, in which she joins actor John Abraham after Dilbar once again.
