I DON’T HAVE A GUARDIAN: GAUAHAR KHAN

Despite not having big contacts in the industry, the actor is grateful for all the opportunities she has received

Actor Gauahar Khan started her Bollywood career very strong with the 2009 film Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year and has impressed audiences with her handful of movie roles so far. But her film appearances are sporadic, which the actor attributes to not having a “big contact” in the film industry.

“It could be many reasons,” replies Gauahar when asked why she is not seen in more films. “I don’t have a guardian. I don’t have someone creating a path for me. I don’t have that big time contact. I don’t have someone backing me up. That is one of the reasons. The other reason may be that it is not that time. There is always a right time for things to happen,” she says.

However, she says she is grateful for all the opportunities that she has got so far, including Ishaqzaade (2012), Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), and Begum Jaan (2017).

“In terms of acting, I have worked with the best of production houses. In terms of me getting meaty roles, I think it is something that only God can make happen. All I have to concentrate on is to give my best every time I perform,” shares Gauahar.

This year, the actor dabbled in the web medium as well as the short films genre. “I am all about taking risks and perform whenever an opportunity arises. I got the best actress award at the IFTDA Awards for my short film, Peanut Butter, and I also tried my hands in comedy with the web series, Side Hero. I hope filmmakers notice my work,” concludes Gauahar.
