Known for their electronic music, British-based three piece band, Clean Bandit has clearly created a niche for themselves in the global music industry. The band, comprising Grace Chatto, Jack Patterson and Luke Patterson, is best known for their tracks such as Mozart’s House, Rather Be and Rockabye. When asked them about their decade-long journey in the music industry, Luke says that it has been an adventure. “It has been a long time now and a journey filled with fun and adventure. We have been to beautiful places and collaborated with some amazing musicians all over the world,” he says.

Asked about the factors they consider while collaborating, and Jack says he hopes that after collaborating with Benny Dayal for Tuborg Open (music collaboration platform) they would get a chance in Bollywood. “Benny has been in Bollywood for a long time and I hope we get a slot in Bollywood soon (laughs),” he says. Speaking of collaborations, Jack says, “It depends on what we are looking for. At times, we have a song written and are looking for the right voice to deliver it and make it into something else. On the other hand, at times, we are looking at poets to give the right lyrics. It totally depends on what we are looking for at that

point of time.”

This is the second time the band has come to India after their maiden visit in 2017 where they performed in Pune. Speaking about their experience in India, Grace says, “I was in North Goa for an ashtanga session and Jack and Luke flew down from London, UK, for the New Year’s Eve performance in Pune. Even though we had to rush back immediately after our performance, we were shocked to know that we have such a huge fan base here.”

This time, the band is in town for a few days and hopes to explore some places in India. However, Benny wishes to take them on a food tour across the city. Ask them if they have tasted any of the Indian dishes, and Grace says “We wanted to explore the local cuisine and we tried the dosa and also had the roadside masala chai. I drink tea back home, but it is nothing close to what we had here.”
