‘Everybody knows I’m a big fan of Vidya’

It’s not just the story and role offered to him, but also the kind of people involved that draws Amit Sadh to a film. The actor, who will be seen next in the biopic of ‘human computer’ Shakuntala Devi, shares that from the story, makers, his character, his costars to the director, everything about the film is special to him.
“My association with Vikram Malhotra (the film’s producer) goes a long way back. He cares about me, my career, and believes in my talent. So, when he offers me a part, half the battle is won. Then, I met Anu (Menon; director of the film). I just love her as a director. When she narrated me the script, I instantly liked it,” Amit says.
While Vidya Balan plays the eponymous role, Amit will be seen as Shakuntala Devi’s son-in-law, Ajay. All praise for Vidya, Amit adds, “Everybody knows I am a big fan of Vidya, so I could not let go of an opportunity to work with her.”
The team is currently in the last leg of the shoot. Amit is paired opposite Sanya Malhotra, who plays Shakuntala Devi’s daughter in the film. Talking about preparing for his role, he adds, “When I was offered the part, I was 90kg and had to lose the extra kilos to fit the role. Anu is very particular...”
Next, Amit will be seen in a web series, Avrodh, that he has already finished shooting for. The second season of Breathe is also ready for release next year, and they are currently prepping for the third season. He has also been getting offers from film industries down south, but he is yet to get something “exciting enough”. “I’m grateful for the offers, but I’m still waiting for the right kind of project which touches my heart,” he concludes.
