Was careful to not portray cricketers in unfavourable light: Angad Bedi

Following his father former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi’s footsteps, Angad Bedi was initially looking at a career in the sport, but as fate would have it, he ended up becoming an actor. And so, when he was offered to play the role of a cricketer in web series Inside Edge, he couldn’t skip the opportunity.
While Angad, who was seen in the second season of the series, is humbled with all the love the series and his character (Arvind Vashishth) received, he adds that it
“wasn’t easy to portray the sportsperson” while maintaining the balance between his private and public life, given how cricketers are idolised in India.
“While, on one hand, understanding this world is easy, I also had to be careful that I, or the show [at large], didn’t portray my people (cricketers) in an unfavourable light. Our constant effort is to keep it rooted in reality, drawing from stories that frequent the news,” he continues, “There are some shocking revelations but we try and humanise the characters. I guess we’ve been successful in creating empathy for these stars who receive love and adulation, but at the same time, are so vulnerable.”
What was also tricky for him was to hold on to his emotions, as he admits cricket will always remain his first love.
Angad is currently working on the third season of the series. Besides, he is a part of the biopic on the life of Indian Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena and is also doing a web show.
