How Jimmy weighs his success and failure

Success and failure are two sides of the same coin, but Jimmy Sheirgill strongly believes it is vital to maintain sanity while dealing with either of the aspects.

Elaborating on his stance, the actor says showbiz isn’t an easy place to survive as every release day redefines one’s fate. Hence, he feels it is very important to keep working hard to achieve one’s goals.

“I look at it [success and failure] purely in terms of the respect that I receive from the audience. If you’re getting love and respect and people are interested in finding out about your upcoming work, it means you’re on the right path. Box office results may vary, but this love, trust and respect doesn’t,” the actor opines.

The actor, who recently made his digital debut with Rangbaaz Phirse, adds that a lot of things also depend on the work he chooses to associate himself with. “Earlier, I’d get bothered [about films not working out] because I had just started out, but over the years, I’ve started to value both these sides equally and I continue to learn in the process,” he explains. Jimmy had earlier mentioned that he follows his instinct while choosing stories, and he would any day give preference to a meaty character than worry about whether it’s the lead role or a supporting role.

“My concern is always my character and what it is adding to the story. If I find that these two are set, everything else falls in place accordingly,” the 49year-old asserts.

His stance is evident from the fact that he played similar characters in De De Pyaar De and Judgementall Hai Kya (both 2019). “I am drawn to interesting characters, mostly the ones that add the required twist in the tale. And then, there have been times I have done such roles for friends, too,” says Jimmy.

While the actor’s roles in these two films were small, reviews were what mattered.

“I liked both the characters, but I did them for friends. Not that I expected a lot out of them, but yes, people had many nice things to say about my De De Pyaar De character, so it felt really nice,” Jimmy reveals.
