The Post-covid bride seems to be hitting the panic button with wedding functions slated to happen in July and September. However, designer stores in Delhi and Mumbai are approaching customers with caution. Designer Falguni Shane Peacock whose stores opened in both cities has been seeing clients on an appointment basis. “We are not allowing trials at the store. We see two walk-ins each day into our stores. Brides along with their family have been coming in, but major buying isn’t happening,” says Falguni, who’s offering 10 to 15% discount on ready-to-wear pieces like anarkalis.

Designer Rahul Mishra has been able to offer discount on some pieces. “Currently, only our New Delhi flagship store is open, in a partial capacity where our retail team is taking appointments. We’ve been observing a large influx of queries from different parts of the world,” says Rahul.

Designer Rimple Narula whose store in Defence Colony opened a week ago has been addressing bridal queries via virtual appointments. “I allow two clients at a time in different areas of the store,” she shares.

In Mumbai, designer Payal Singhal’s Altamount Road and Khar stores opened on Friday last week. “I’m offering a 30% discount, and a free washable reversible mask and matching pouch free with any garment purchase,” she says.

It has been close to three months since everyone has been confined to their homes due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown that restricted any kind of travel. Now that things are opening up and interstate travel has been allowed, actor Rakul Preet Singh took the opportunity and flew to Delhi to be with her parents.

She tells us, “I’ve been in quarantine since March 15. During this period, the only thing that you want to do is spend time with your parents.”

Singh even reveals that there was a point in between when she was contemplating driving down to Delhi. “But then, that would have been a long drive. After a couple of my friends travelled, I realised flights are safe and if I travel now, I won’t be a threat to my parents,” adds the actor.

Singh, 29, was extra cautious when she went to Delhi. “I wore a PPE kit, face shield, mask, gloves, shoe covers, and looked like I’m going on a space mission

she says.

Being with family during such times helps one stay strong, and Singh says, “I couldn’t wait any longer to see them. This is when you realise life’s so fragile. So, I want to spend a lot of time with them.”

Meanwhile, Singh’s brother, Aman Preet Singh, an entrepreneur, who has started his acting journey in the Telugu cinema took a flight from Mumbai to Hyderabad for work. “Once I know when my work is starting, I’ll decide on heading back to Mumbai,” she concludes.
