Ayushmann finds a connect with Dalí
With all the (free) time in hand, the nationwide lockdown has seen people take up new hobbies. Actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana, though, has taken to something extremely unique: he is reading up on the life and times of the iconic Spanish revolutionary artist, Salvador Dalí.
Interestingly, his fascination for Dalí stems from binge-watching a popular web show. “The lockdown period has really fuelled my interest to learn new things,” says Khurrana. “Now, I’ve started reading up a lot on Dalí. My curiosity to know about his life and work peaked when I watched the show,” he adds.
For the Badhaai Ho (2018) actor, multi-faceted and multitalented people have always served as huge inspirations.
“Dalí, for instance, was a man of many talents. He painted, was into graphic arts, had an interest in films, sculpture, design, photography, etc. He was drawn to all things creative and I want to read up on how his mind worked. I look to learn from such people’s lives,” he says.
Khurrana, who is currently in his hometown, Chandigarh, along with his family, is also “extremely keen” to visit the Dalí Theatre-museum in Spain, which also houses the late artist’s last resting place.
Earlier this month, on Guru Purnima, Khurrana had called the late singer-actor Kishore Kumar his biggest inspiration and guru. “I’ve been very vocal about always being intrigued by Kishore Kumar too. Such icons are an institution and have left behind so many things for us to learn and understand. I’m thoroughly enjoying learning about their lives, philosophies and beliefs,” concludes the actor-singer.
