KRUSHNA AND KIKU

- Rishabh.suri@htlive.com

Whatever is happening off screen between actor-comedian Krushna Abhishek and his uncle, actor Govinda, has created headlines. And what happens on screen, therefore, leads to a lot of eyebrows being raised, too.

The latest instance of this are the reports that Abhishek was offended by one of the jokes cracked by his fellow actor Kiku Sharda, on Kapil Sharma’s comedy show. There have been instances in the past when digs were taken at Govinda and Abhishek’s not-so-good equation, and the two have gone on record to be vocal about it.

This time, Abhishek said, ‘Chhee Chhee aise baat nahi karte’, to which Sharda replied, ‘Chi Chi (Govinda’s nickname) toh aapse baat nahi karte’. And this was enough to set tongues wagging. Recently, Abhishek had even refused to perform in one of the episodes in which Govinda had to make an appearance.

However, when we reached out to Abhishek and Sharda, they maintained that there wasn’t any bitterness between them. “There is no fight at all, it’s a part of the script, yaar,” says Sharda.

Does cracking jokes on something personal without crossing any lines get difficult sometimes?

“No, because we’re on the same page. Our final motive is to entertain the audience. Scripts are discussed internally before we go on stage. There’s nothing at all that both of us don’t know. We are aware, there’s no chance of anything like that happening,” maintains the 45-year-old.

Adding that “all is well” between him and Abhishek, Sharda shares, “He (Krushna) is a dear friend, and a talented boy. I enjoy working with him.”

Abhishek, on his part, sums it up in one sentence: “There is no fight between me and Kiku. These are all just rumours. I love him, and I absolutely love working with him.”

Guess all’s well that ends well!

Be it his show Beyhadh 2 going off-air in April or his left hand getting injured twice, Shivin Narang wants to leave all the setbacks of 2020 behind. The actor has two romantic songs coming up this year and is in talks for some TV and web projects.

“I hope this year gives us joy and peace. For me, the last nine months of 2020 weren’t easy. So, the break was self-inflicted. I didn’t want to step out much for work as I live with my parents. My hand injury also took time to heal. I did get TV offers but none of them were exciting enough,” says the actor, adding, “This year is dedicated to fitness and lots of work. I feel inclined towards web shows. The kind of content OTTs are churning, I can only say that they seem to be the future.”

As an artiste, Narang is open to all challenges and experiences. “I’ve no such hang-ups that I won’t do intimate scenes on OTT. But then, they shouldn’t be forced into the story to garner views, and need to be shot aesthetically,” says the actor.

Excited with the news of Covid-19 vaccines getting approved for emergency use, Narang says, “Many went jobless last year. Now they’ll be able to restart. We’ll also be able to visit friends and relatives. Though, we should continue wearing masks and sanitising till we’re Covid free.”
