40s are the new 30s, says Mona Singh

Actor Mona Singh, who is working on back-toback projects, confesses that she is “loving this phase of life”. She informs that she has recently wrapped up a web show where she plays a cop and will soon begin shooting for another project “with the biggest directors”.

“I am packed till March next year and I am enjoying it. It is amazing to do such different roles. I feel glad that writers, directors and creators don’t want to typecast actors and are thinking out of the box now,” says Singh, who is part of Aamir Khan-starrer Laal Singh Chaddha and is awaiting its release.

She gets off work today as she celebrates her 40th birthday. Talking about how age is just a number now, the actor says, “Women look better with age. I have seen that with so many friends and actors. I am looking better than what I did 10 years ago. The 40s are the new 30s. There is so much more to life in the 40s. Look at the superstars we have who are in their late 50s. They look so amazing!”

About the celebrations, she shares, “Actually, my mum’s birthday too is on the same day and I want to spend the day with her. Being with her all day and having friends for lunch or dinner would be a good celebration for us. All of us are fully vaccinated now so it is fine. Covid has changed the way we meet and celebrate. Anywhere you step out, there are so many people... I am scared to go to restaurants. So, it is more about enjoying intimate gatherings.”

She adds that earlier, she used to take her “parents for a vacation every six months but that hasn’t happened due to the pandemic”. She goes on, “Thankfully, in 2019, I did surprise them by taking them to Goa for three days and we had a blast.”

Singh recalls that last year her husband, ad producer and director Shyam Rajagopalan, surprised her when she was shooting for Black Widows in Kolkata. She shares, “This year, he is in Ahmedabad and will join us [for the celebration].”
