Actor-couple Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are starting a new chapter of their life, and actor Shakti Kapoor is happy that Ranbir has finally fulfilled the wish of his dear friend, late actor Rishi Kapoor, who is fondly called Chintu.

“I feel sad whenever I realise that Chintu is not here to witness the wedding. I’m sure he will be happy, dancing up there and blessing the couple. I’m so glad that Ranbir has not further delayed the wedding. Chintu wanted to see it with his own eyes... But, life has to go on. It is the right time for Ranbir to get married now,” Shakti tells us.

The actor, who has worked with Rishi in over 25 films, including Naseeb (1981), Gharana (1989) and Bol Radha Bol (1992), continues, “You can’t even imagine how Chintu would have danced at the

wedding. When I close my eyes, I picture him wearing Punjabi safa, standing at the gate, laughing and being the gracious host.”

Shakti recalls how Rishi would bring up Ranbir’s wedding during their conversations time and again. “Hamesha bolta tha, ‘Yaar, aajkal ke bachche shaadi kyun nahin karte, sahi time pe bachche shaadi kyun nahin karte’. He’d get worried and say, ‘Waqt kharab chal raha hai, shaadi chalti nahin hai’,” adds the actor, asserting that Rishi would’ve “been the happiest” to see Alia and Ranbir tie the knot.

However, Shakti, who is presently in Kolkata, did not attend the wedding yesterday. “I am just happy that Chintu’s wish has been fulfilled. Ranbir is mentally settled, finally. He and Alia make a lovely couple. I wish them all the happiness,” he says on a concluding note.
