Actor Taapsee Pannu and her sister, entrepreneur Shagun Pannu share more tidbits about their sisterly bond.
It feels like the pressure of coming up with the right Instagram caption (laughs). We can make fun of and rely on each other at the same time.
It’s fun and entertaining. We are always there to entertain each other.
Taapsee has found this new habit of styling me. Whenever I’ve to go out for a party or a meeting, she’s like, ‘I will decide your clothes’! She puts together my heels and dresses. I actually don’t care about it at all. What I do like about her, however, is the effort she puts behind it. I’ve got a stylist at home — free of cost!
In terms of change, I don’t like the fact that she always wants me around. Whenever she’s free, she’d call me and expects me to leave everything and come to her.
I like her sense of humour. We can laugh at the darkest of things in our lives. Whenever I am down, she eventually makes me laugh with her dark humour.
What I dislike is the fact that we can’t talk before 11am. I’m a morning person and very hyperactive around that time. But she’ll be in no mood to talk until she has had her breakfast and a cup of coffee. She only gets social after noon.
Bachpan mein toh ladayi remote ke liye hoti thi. Since I was older, I felt I should decide what we will watch on television.
Main hamesha maan leti thi, but then one day I decided I won’t give in. And that day we fought really bad. It was a physical fight, and that too with the remote.
Now, thankfully, we don’t have such physical fights — that would be very draining! But now, it has come to a point where we will probably just walk out and not talk to each other until we have calmed down.
I should probably never give recommendations to Shagun when it comes to boys, because they always turn out to be terrible. It just hasn’t worked well in her case. But in my case, she probably didn’t know about any person that I’ve been with except Mathias (Boe; badminton player), and that thankfully was approved quickly. So, I didn’t have to do any convincing for him.
I think approval from your sibling does matter a lot. In fact, it is so important that I don’t ask her
[about a potential partner] until I’m sure about them. Otherwise, it can change my judgement. But yes, Mathias was a quick okay from my side.
It’s an unsaid thing. Whenever we have time, we make plans and go out. Recently, we were thinking about a trip to watch the Northern Lights (aurora borealis), but we haven’t been able to plan it yet — mostly because we will have to end up going to a very cold place!
Whenever I’ve to go somewhere for work, I end up extending the trip and calling her over. It works in our favour because she also doesn’t have a regular 9-5 job.
In terms of ease of travelling, maybe because we were brought up together, it doesn’t feel like an extra effort to sync our needs for a holiday. Whenever it is summer, we try to go to places where it’s cold, and the weather is better. I also understand that not everyone has the same approach towards a holiday. But for us, it is easy with each other!
AYou may start a new exercise routine. The financial situation gets strengthened. Those entangled in red tape will be able to get their job done without hassle. The family will be supportive.
