DUMKA: The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) leader, Babulal Marandi on Sunday demanded 75% reservation in the government services for the local people of Jharkhand.

Addressing a “Ration Do, Kerosene Do” rally in Gandhi Maidan in Dumka, Marandi alleged that the BJP government in the state has regularly been appointing outsiders in the government services.

“The recent appointments of cops, school teachers and block level officers show that outsiders are being given more preferences than the locals. Without making a policy for the locals, the BJP government has been appointing outsiders in government services. If this phenomenon does not stop, my party would launch a big agitation against the government,” Marandi said.

Demanding 75% reservation, including 2% reservation for the poor of upper caste of Jharkhand, Babulal Marandi said the outsiders in the government services would not be tolerated.

Further he said that the BJP government has so far failed to provide ration cards as a result of which poor people are not receiving food grains for the last one and half years from the public distribution shops.

“People are not even receiving kerosene in absence of the ration cards,” Marandi said.

He further said that his party organised the rally here on Sunday to demand ration and kerosene. “Our party would also organise a big rally in Ranchi in March,” he added.
