XLRI students get job offers with average package of र 18.5 lakh

JAMSHEDPUR: Students from business management and human resource management programmes of Xavier School of Management (XLRI) have received job offers with an average annual package of ` 18.5 lakh.

XLRI’s reputation for its HR programme was clearly visible as the students secured job offers from consulting, general management and other sectors in large numbers.

A total of 102 students were offered PPOs (Pre-Placement Offers) from their summer internship­s, of which 84 PPOs were accepted.

Rajiv Misra, chair person of XLRI placement said, “This year’s placement season has witnessed a remarkable increase in both, the number of offers and recruiters, coupled with participat­ion of a few new recruiters. We are happy to announce that there has been an increase in the salary packages as well.”

ICICI Bank was the largest recruiter in finance sector with 21 offers. Kotak Mahindra and Karvy visited for the first time and offered jobs in wealth management sector.

Asian Paints, Colgate Palmolive, Heinz, ITC, Kellogg’s, Nestle, PepsiCo and Unilever were among others who offered jobs in sales and marketing and HR sectors.

The media sector too made its presence felt with Star TV rolling out the second highest number of offers and opening up sports marketing roles.

Airtel, Ericsson, Vodafone and Telenor represente­d the communicat­ions and the networking sectors.

General management was one of the preferred sectors on campus with major industry players like Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra & Mahindra, Reliance Industries, RPG and TAS offering a large number of jobs.

The consulting domain saw the active participat­ion of industry majors such as Accenture Strategy, Capgemini Consulting, Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte, KPMG, McKinsey and Company and others.

Technology and ecommerce were the other highlights with some of the key recruiters being Flipkart, Microsoft, Ola Cabs, Paytm, Samsung, Tech Mahindra and Wipro who offered jobs in programme management, sales and marketing, HR and operations.
