SRINAGAR: Three CRPF personnel were injured in a grenade attack by militants in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday, police said. Militants hurled a grenade at a CRPF party in Wanpoh area of the district, a police official said.

SRINAGAR: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were wounded on Monday when a suspected militant lobbed a grenade in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, police said.

They said the grenade was lobbed towards a patrolling party of CRPF on a highway in Wanpoh area of Anantnag.

“Three CRPF personnel were injured and have been hospitalised. The injured are stable,” officials at the police control room in Anantnag said. The police have launched a search in the area to nab the attackers.

Meanwhile, life remained affected in Kashmir for the 80th day on Monday since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant commander Burhan Wani.

Shops and markets had opened on Sunday on the call of separatists. On Monday, shops, businesses and schools were shut while public transport was off the roads.

Police foiled the rally of independent legislator Engineer Abdul Rashid and his supporters who were marching towards the UN office in Srinagar.

A spokesman of Rashid said the legislator and his supporters were lodged in Kothi Bagh and other police stations.

In north Kashmir, locals said a pro-freedom rally was organised in Sopore. They said police used force to disperse off people who were making arrangements for the rally.

Eighty seven people have lost their lives while more than 10,000 have been injured in clashes between civilians and security forces since Wani’s death this year.
