BESIDES TRAINING SESSIONS BY SUBJECT SPECIALISTS, THE COUNCIL WILL ALSO HOLD WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS, DEBATES

JAMSHEDPUR: To impart quality education to matriculation and intermediate students and root out education mafia’s role in registration and examination procedures, the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) will organise a three-day training sessions for teachers at the state’s all divisional headquarters from next month, said council chairman Arvind Prasad Singh on Monday.

The training sessions will be conducted by subject specialists. In addition, workshops, seminars, debates and other related programmes will also be organised by the council.

“Work culture has to be changed in schools for improving quality. Departmental officials and teachers should check irregularities in the academic system and be made accountable for students’ performances,” said Singh, during his Jamshedpur visit.

He said the JAC was dedicated to root out education mafia’s role in examination procedures and irregularities would be controlled through timely registrations, examinations and publications of results.

“Registration for matriculation examinations will not be allowed throughout the year. It will be completed within limited time frame. Students will not be allowed to appear for matriculation examinations if they fail to get themselves registered within specified time,” said the council head.

Due to round-the-year registration procedures, education mafia extort money from students.

JAC will cancel registration of those schools where regular classes are not conducted and which don’t have registered land for their campus, said Singh.

The intermediate examination results will be out by the last week of April every year, which will help students in opting for higher education as per their choice on time.

Taking lessons from irregularities in intermediate examination results in Bihar earlier this year, JAC will pay special attention on transparent procedure to check corruption in examination centre allotment, answer-sheet evaluation and other procedures.

After the scam was unearthed in Bihar, toppers were found ignorant even about their subjects’ names and syllabus. Senior officials of Bihar intermediate education council and some topper students were booked in the scam.

The JAC is taking steps to check such irregularities in the state and is focusing on providing better infrastructure to students to help them get best results on their own, the chairman said.
