GANG OF CRIMINALS BUSTED

JAMSHEDPUR: An inter-state criminal gang, involved in various crimes in Ranchi and other parts of the state, was busted in East Singhbhum district with the arrest of three people.

Sourabh Singh of Bihar’s Aurangabad and Pramod Kumar of Jharkhand’s Kodarma were arrested from Kadma area in the town.

Two 9mm pistols, a country made pistol and 70 gram ornaments were recovered from their possession. Motorcycle, scooter and car – one each – were also seized.

The police caught the two people in connection with over 40 chain snatching cases in Jamshedpur. They used to escape towards Ranchi after chain snatching.

Singh and Kumar confessed their involvemen­t in snatching cases in Jamshedpur, a police officer said. The police also interrogat­ed them in connection with firing on a businessma­n in May 2016.

Senior superinten­dent of police Anoop T Mathew said police in many districts have been hunting for Singh and his gang members in connection with firing and other crimes.
