JAMSHEDPUR : West Singhbhum district’s mining office in Chaibasa was sealed for three days on Friday after a Jamshedpurbased mining official and his wife tested positive for coronavirus infection late on Thursday night here, officials said.

“We have sealed the district mining office in Chaibasa for next three days after a mining official and his wife tested Covid-19 positive late on Thursday night. We have also started the process of tracing his contacts and quarantining them. He had gone to Jamshedpur and Ranchi recently,” Ejaz Anwar, district Covid-19 nodal officer, said on Friday.

He said the mining office would be reopened after it’s fully sanitized and all close contacts of the mining official have been advised to get their samples tested and stay in home quarantine.

Jamshedpur additional district collector (land and revenue) Saurav Sinha said the flat in Vijaya Heritage under Kadma police station, where the official resided, has been declared a containment zone.

The mining official and his wife’s samples were tested on a TruNat machine. They have been admitted to Tata Main Hospital’s (TMH) Covid-19 ward.

Meanwhile, 13 more persons, including seven of a family, tested Covid-19 positive on Thursday night. The seven members of the family, hailing from Dukda in Chakulia, had come back to the district from Thane in Maharashtra, while the remaining six had come from Gujarat, Mumbai, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh.

This was the highest number of Covid-19 patients detected in Chakulia block of East Singhbhum district in a single day.
