“In Ranchi, six police personnel were tested positive. Three people from Chutia locality were also found infected with this respiratory disease. They are relatives of an already infected patient,” said Ranchi civil surgeon Dr VB Prasad.

Besides, one patient each was found from Morabadi, Kusum Vihar, and Pathalkudwa localities.

A home-guard of Ranchi’s sadar hospital also tested positive.

Six people, whose samples were taken in Military hospital, Namkom, also tested positive for coronavirus infection.

As many as six patients admitted in four different private hospitals in Ranchi were also found positive.

DHANBAD: Three inmates of Giridih district jail were admitted to Covid-19 hospital on Friday after they tested positive, officials said.

Giridih civil surgeon (CS) Dr AK Singh said the three prisoners had been kept in a separate room in the jail so there was no risk of spread of infection to other inmates. “After receiving their test reports, they were immediately shifted to ANM School, a makeshift dedicated Covid hospital, for treatment,” he said.

All the three inmates had surrendered in court on June 29 and were forwarded to judicial custody. Before sending them to jail, their samples were collected and tested on TrueNat machine, which, however, tested negative and they were sent to jail around 3pm on June 29.

“Despite their negative test reports, their samples were also sent to RIMS, Ranchi for an RT-PCR test. The report (positive) came from Ranchi today (July 3),” said Dr AK Singh

“Their samples would be again sent for test after five days”, said the CS.

Giridih health department sends its samples for test to RIMS in Ranchi and Patliputra Medical College Hospital (PMCH) in Dhanbad. On Thursday, 117 samples of Giridih district were tested at PMCH and all were negative, officials said.

The district has so far tested 7,221 people, of which 101 tested positive. A total of 84 patients have recovered and there are 12 active cases in the district’s Covid hospital. Besides, one patient from Giridih is undergoing treatment at RIMS, one in Jamtara district and third at Alam Hospital in Ranchi, the CS informed.
