2 Dhanbad journalists test +ve, samples of 70 others taken
DHANBAD: A day after Dhanbadbased two journalists were tested positive for Covid-19, the district administration on Sunday took swab samples of nearly 70 other scribes who came in direct or indirect contact with the two infected persons.
On Saturday, a vernacular daily reporter and a news portal camera person were found infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus. They had earlier come in indirect contact with a Covid-19 patient, who is a government doctor. They have been shifted to district’s dedicated Covid-19 hospital.
Reportedly, the two infected journos were frequent visitors of Dhanbad’s press club located at Gandhi Seva Sadan building. They came in contact with other journalists and visitors in the club.
The journalists, whose samples were taken, have been asked to stay in quarantine centre till their reports come.
Meanwhile, Dhanbad sub-divisional magistrate Raj Maheshwaram on Sunday visited Gandhi Seva A building and after inspection ordered to seal it. He also instructed to carry out sanitisation exercise in the area.
Talking to media, the SDM said, “Since the two journalists, who used to visit the press club frequently, were found infected with this respiratory disease, the whole building is being sealed as per the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Besides, around 100 police personnel of Dhanbad police force, who shared barracks with the Corona positive constable, too gave their swabs for testing at Sadar hospital on Sunday.
The constable, who was posted in court, was found positive on Saturday.
