Jharkhand’s tally reaches 2,807

2,045 recoveries and 19 deaths so far across the state; E Singhbhum reports max cases on Sunday

RANCHI: Jharkhand on Sunday reported 53 cases from 14 districts across the state including five from Ranchi.

With discovery of these patients, the tally of total covid-19 cases climbed to 2807 including 2045 recoveries and 19 deaths.

While East Singhbhum reported maximum 15 cases, Lohardaga unearthed 10 cases.

Besides, Dhanbad found six cases, Ranchi registered five cases, Saraikela discovered four cases, Koderma detected three cases, Palamu and Simdega reported two cases each and Bokaro, Sahebgunj, Giridih, Khunti, Pakur and Deoghar recorded one case each.

In Ranchi, positive cases came from Bariatu, Kokar, Lowadih, Kishoregun­j and Police Line localities.

Two suspects--a woman from Bariatu and a man from Kokar-admitted in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) isolation ward were found infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus. woman

“The other three patients were two men from Lowadih and Police Line localities and one woman from Kishoregun­j. All five patients had been shifted to district’s dedicated covid-19 hospital,” said Ranchi civil surgeon Dr VB Prasad.

He added, “We have started the contact tracing exercise to identify people who came in direct or indirect contact with these patients.”

In Bokaro, a woman from Chas was found infected with this respirator­y disease. “She is an admitted patient in Bokaro General Hospital,” said a district health official.

ALL GOVT STAFF TO UNDERGO TESTING

The Seraikela-Kharsawan district administra­tion and health wing have decided to conduct Covid-19 test of all the administra­tive officials and employees in the wake of a mining department official testing Corona positive on Friday night, an official said on Sunday.

“We will conduct Coronaviru­s infection test of all the district administra­tion officials and employees roaster-wise in phases. We collected samples of employees in the district sub-registrar office last evening, while samples of employees under rural developmen­t executive engineer’s office between would be collected between July 6 and 8 from 2 pm onwards,” Dr Himanshu Bhusan Barwar, SeraikelaK­harsawan civil surgeon, said on Sunday. Samples will be collected from DRDA on July 9 and 10, state excise department on July 11, land acquisitio­n department on July 13 and establishm­ent department on July 14.

Dr Barwar said contact tracing of the Corona positive mining official from district has found 15 persons who have been quarantine­d.
