Jamshedpur crosses 500-mark

JAMSHEDPUR: The Jamshedpur (East Singhbhum) tally of Covid-19 patients crossed the 500mark on Sunday with 15 more persons testing positive on Sunday, taking the tally to 501.

“Altogether 15 more persons have tested Corona positive in Jamshedpur today, taking the total number of positive cases to 501. Most of them have travel history and 10 of them were quarantine­d at Tata Main Hospital (TMH). Two are from Adityapur and Dhanbad. Contact tracing exercise is on,” Dr Asad, Jamshedpur district IDSP nodal officer said on Sunday.

As per records, 286 Covid-19 patients were recovered and were discharged from hospitals, leaving 215 active cases in Jamshedpur, with a recovery rate of 57%.

On the other hand, the single Covid-19 chain linked to Jamshedpur-based mining officer posted in Chaibasa extended further on Sunday with two more persons from West Singhbhum district and his gardener from Seraikela-Kharsawan district testing positive.

West Singhbhum DC Arava Rajkamal said Mochisai, Madhu Bazar and Tungri Don localities were declared containmen­t zones on Sunday after three more persons tested positive late Saturday night. “They had no symptoms. We are implementi­ng all the protocols by ICMR and the health department and contact tracing process is on for these three persons,” said Rajkamal. District civil surgeon Dr OP Gupta said two more persons tested positive Sunday, taking the total number of positive cases in the last three days to eight.

In Seraikela-Kharsawan district, four more persons linked to Tata Steel Long Product worker – who had tested positive on June 29 – tested positive. Another Tata Pigment worker from Babakuti locality of Adityapur had tested positive late on Saturday night.

“Another Tata worker, his mother, father and brother have tested Corona positive . Besides, a person linked to the Chaibasa administra­tion officer has also tested positive. Both Babakuti and Sapra declared containmen­t zones,” Dr Himanshu Bhusan Barwar, Seraikela-Kharsawan civil surgeon said.
