BJP leader Jaiwardhan Singh shot dead in Latehar
SINGH WAS THE FRONT RUNNER FOR THE LATEHAR DISTRICT BJP PRESIDENT’S POST. HOWEVER, THE PARTY TWO DAYS AGO HAD NOMINATED MANIKA EXMLA FOR THIS POST
LATEHAR: Unidentified assailants shot dead a senior Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Jaiwardhan Singh (38) at Barwadih in Jharkhand’s Latehar district on Sunday evening.
The assailants opened fire when he was sitting near his shop at Barwadih bus stand on Sunday evening.
He used to sit there daily with his supporters.
Singh, also the district representative of Chatra MP Sunil Kumar Singh, died on the spot.
According to an eye witness, at least two persons committed the crime and managed to flee towards the railway crossing.
On getting information, locals and the police rushed to the spot. The Barwadih sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Amarnath said that the investigation is on .
Incidentally, Singh was the front runner for the Latehar district BJP president’s post. However, the party two days ago had nominated Manika ex-MLA
Harekrishna Singh for this post.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand BJP has reacted very strongly over the incident. The party spokesperson Pratul Shahdev said, “It seemed that jungle raj has returned to Jharkhand. There is no law and order. This is really unfortunate.”
Demanding a high level probe in this incident, Shahdev said, “Jaiwardhan had deposited his licenced arms with the administration during the Assembly elections but it was not released even after repeated requests from him. This should also be throughly probed and concerned officers should be punished.”
He further said that if the culprit were not arrested soon, the BJP would launch agitation.
