IMA delegation to meet chief minister
The state chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Sunday convened its state executive committee meeting and decided to meet the Jharkhand chief minister over the state health secretary’s recent alleged unsavoury remark, hurting the doctors’ fraternity.
Taking a resolution, which will be taken up with the state government for approval, the IMA decided to apply throttle against health secretary Dr Nitin Madan Kulkarni.
At the meeting, it was unanimously decided to apprise chief minister Hemant Soren of the alleged comment made by the state health secretary.
The other agendas included changes in clinical establishments act and better services for disposal of bio-medical waste generated by clinics and hospitals of across the state.
State IMA president Dr A K Singh said, “We convened a meeting on the demand of majority of members who had expressed their displeasure over alleged comments of the health secretary. Apart from that, we have decided to speak to the state government over relaxing norms for small clinics under clinical establishment acts and make proper arrangements of biomedical waste disposal.”
Notably, the doctors’ community was unhappy over an alleged statement from Kulkarni made during a programme on December 30 last year. The statement was rebutted by the state health department the very next day, citing it as a human error. Meanwhile, office bearers of Ranchi IMA raised issue of lack of medical college seats in the state and demanded that the National Medical Council be approached over the issue.
