Under Opp fire, CM turns the heat on DGP
PATNA: The murder of IndiGo official Rupesh Kumar Singh drew wide condemnation from political parties on Wednesday even as chief minister Nitish Kumar sought update on the incident from director general of police S K Singhal and asked him to crack the case immediately.
RJD’s Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, who is the leader of the Opposition, said the incident was yet another example of deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar and alleged that the CM was unable to handle the home department anymore. “We want the killers of Rupesh Singh arrested immediately. But at the same time, I want to reiterate that the rising incidents of murder, rape, kidnapping and extortion has only vindicated my perception about the CM that he has become a tired man and unable to handle Bihar. We want that the CM to immediately hand over the home department to somebody else,” he said.
The RJD leader also hit out at prime minister Narendra Modi for his “jungle raj” jibes. “Now I want to ask the BJP: who is the ‘ Maharaja of Mahajungle raj’ in Bihar,” he said.
BJP leaders too condemned the incident. Union minister R K Singh underlined the need to improve law and order situation in the state.
“We are in utter shock after the incident,” said agriculture minister Amrendra Pratap Singh.
“This says it all about the current law and order situation in the state,” said Congress MLC and AICC media panellist Premchand Mishra.
