7 CONSPIRING TO KILL COAL FIRM MANAGER HELD

LATEHAR: The Latehar police on Wednesday foiled a bid of a criminal gang who were allegedly planning to kill manager of a coal transporti­ng company at CCL Magadh coal project and carry out act of arson and firing at coal despatch sites in Latehar.

The police also claimed to have solved the murder mystery of a man, whose dead body was found 14 days after being kidnapped from Balumath police station area in the district, with the arrest of six persons.

Briefing media persons on Wednesday, Latehar superinten­dent of police (SP) Prashant Anand said, “In all, 13 criminals were arrested in two separate raids. With this the police also foiled a criminal gang’s bid to murder Saurabh Jha, the manager of a company engaged in coal transporta­tion in Magadh coal project area.”

“A special team arrested seven criminals with arms, ammunition and posters in the name of Pradeep Ganjhu,” the SP said.

In a separate developmen­t, the Balumath police solved murder mystery of one Sudesh Bhokta, who had been abducted on December 18 and his body was found on January 4. The police claimed the man was killed for having a relationsh­ip with the wife of one of the accused. “The woman’s husband Birendra Ganjhu hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Sudesh after he threatened him of dire consequenc­es if he objected to the relationsh­ip,” the SP said.

Police arrested six criminals in the case and also recovered arms, along with motorcycle and mobile phone of the deceased. All the six arrested persons are aged between 19 to 22 years.
