Chill grips state again, Ranchi sees a dip of 7 degrees
RANCHI: Another spell of cold weather has gripped Ranchi with night mercury falling by seven degrees over the past two days. Ranchi’s minimum temperature dipped by four degree Celsius in the past 24 hours, officials said on Wednesday.
The capital city, which registered the highest minimum temperature at 17.6 degree Celsius of past 50 years on Sunday, recorded the same at 9.2 degree Celsius, one degree below the normal temperature, on Wednesday.
Weather officials have predicted a further fall by one or two degrees in the next couple of days due to unrestricted wind flow from Himalayan region.
Ranchi’s night temperature slipped below 10 degree Celsius after 11 days.
Deputy director at Ranchi centre of India Meteorological Department, Abhishek Anand said repeated western disturbances and other systems increased Jharkhand’s temperature in the past 10 days. “Chilly wind is blowing unrestrictedly from Himalayan region, which witnessed a significant amount of snowfall recently, is lowering state’s temperature again,” he said.
He said the weather situation is likely to remain the same for next few days and temperature might further decline by one to degrees in parts of Jharkhand on Thursday.
As per weather officials, Ranchi might shiver at eight degree Celsius Thursday. After Ranchi, Bokaro was the coldest district, recording the minimum temperature at 9.6 degree Celsius, two degrees below the normal.
Jamshedpur recorded its minimum temperature at 15.8 degree Celsius, five degrees above the normal, Daltonganj at 11.2 degree Celsius, two degrees above the normal.
