BAN ON 3 MEDICAL COLLEGES: RANCHI MP MEETS UNION HEALTH MINISTER
DHANBAD: Ranchi MP Sanjay Seth on Wednesday met Union health minister Harsh Vardhan in the national capital over ban on admission in three medical colleges of state in the current academic session.
After meeting, Seth said the Union minister’s response was positive and a meeting has been fixed with National Medical Commission (NMC) chairman around 11am Thursday in this regard.
“We are hopeful of getting permission for admission, as the health minister assured to extend all help in saving the 300 MBBS seats of state,” said Seth over phone from Delhi.
The NMC had stopped admission in three medical colleges of the state in 2021 academic session due to deficiencies.
The Ranchi MP swung into action on Wednesday morning after Indian Medical Association Ranchi chapter submitted him a memorandum through video conferencing for saving the 300 MBBS seats.
IMA Ranchi president Dr GD Banerjee, vice-president Dr KP Daruka, secretary Dr Shambhu Prasad Singh and joint secretary Dr Ajit Kumar had jointly submitted the memorandum to the MP through video conferencing and requested him to talk to the health minister for permission, as the Prime Minister had inaugurated the three institutions.
Meanwhile five medical aspirants filed a PIL in the Supreme Court for granting permission for admission to the three said medical colleges.
The students have also requested the apex court for extending deadline of counselling and admission in other medical colleges.
These five students have passed the eligibility test, but could not get admission due to low ranking.
