Minor abducted for forced marriage rescued, 5 held in Bihar

Yet another case of forced marriage came to light in Lakhisarai district on Tuesday when the father of a minor boy lodged an FIR against unknown kidnappers and sought the SP’s interventi­on in rescuing his 17-year-old son Chhotu Kumar.

According to the victim, carborne criminals kidnapped him when he was giving fodder to his animals on Monday evening. Police said that they brought him to Shringi Rishi locality and threatened of dire consequenc­es if he refused to marry a girl, said to be a relative of one Karo Yadav. When the victim refused to marry, some of them allegedly thrashed him.

Following the FIR, a police team led by inspector and SHO of Suryagarha police station conducted a raid at Shringi Rishi hilly and forest area of Naxal-infested Lakhisarai district and arrested five abductors. The police team rescued the boy from a jeep and recovered four cell phones.

Those were arrested identified as Chhatish Yadav (28), Karo Yadav (30), Gaurav Yadav (29), Kundan Yadav (32) and Umesh Paswan (24). Police said that Kundan and Umesh were involved in several criminal cases in the past.

Lakhisarai SP Sunil Kumar said following the family’s complaint, police started a probe.The accused confessed their involvemen­t in the crime.

Earlier on January 7, Shivam Kumar, 21, who recently qualified the Indian Army completive examinatio­n for GD rank, was on a morning stroll with friends when he was allegedly kidnapped on gunpoint and forced to marry a girl in a nearby village.
