Five held for robbery, ₹15 lakh recovered

PATNA: The Naugachhia police arrested five persons in connection with robbery that took place at the residence of a businessma­n on January 17. Armed robbers had held him along with two others on gunpoint and left with ₹15 lakh and jewellery.

The accused were identified as Yogi Singh, Nandu Shah, Milton Singh, Aditya Singh and Rabindra Kumar Singh, all from Naugachhia. Police recovered ₹15 lakh, 33 silver coins, silver idols and utensils, gold jewellery, two country made pistols, two live cartridges and four cell phones from their possession.

The victim has been identified as Binod Jain, 65.

According to the Naugacchia SP Sushant Kumar Saroj, Binod’s wife Vandana is a cancer patient and she is undergoing treatment in Surat (Gujarat).

Bhagalpur range DIG Sujit Kumar announced a reward for the police team that cracked the case.

DIG said, it appeared that a local gang was involved in the crime. Subsequent­ly, an SIT was formed to nab the accused. According to police, complainan­t Binod Jain along with his two helpers was present in the house when the incident took place.

Reports from Rohtas, police arrested two persons including an NCC cadet on the charges of cash loot from a trader. Police said that bike-borne miscreants looted ₹1.28 lakh from a trader, Rushtan Ansari, at old GT road under Town police station late on Wednesday evening.

Following the incident, police raided the hideout of miscreants at Dilia village and nabbed two persons, Ranjan Kumar and Ramjeewan who is said to be a parade commander at NCC.
