JAMSHEDPUR: A case has been lodged against 18 named and other unidentified persons with Sakchi police station in Jamshedpur on charges of violating Covid-19 lockdown and disaster management rules by bringing out a rally in the district in support of farmers’ tractor rally on Republic Day without prior permission from East Singhbhum district administration, officials said on Friday.

Meanwhile, an irate group of people led by Hindu Yuva Sangharsh Samiti president Jitendra

Singh staged a demonstration near Tatanagar Railway Station protesting against the recent violence that broke out in Delhi, alleged insult to the National Flag and breach of Red Fort during farmers’ tractor rally on Republic Day.

Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) too has demanded stern action against perpetrators of the violence and vacating Delhi borders, which they said harmed trade and business for almost two months now.

“An FIR has been lodged under Sections 188, 269, 270 and 290 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 52 of Disaster Management Act against 18 named and other unknown persons for holding a rally from Sakchi Aambagan Ground to Baliguma (Mango) without permission from the district administration. Further investigation is on and action will be taken against the accused on the basis of the probe,” Kunal Kumar, Sakchi police station officer in-charge (OC), said on Friday.

The FIR has been lodged on the basis of a complaint by Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) city manager Ravi Bharti, who was posted at the spot as executive magistrate.
