State’s three-day pulse polio drive kick starts from Deoghar district
DHANBAD: Chief justice of Jharkhand high court Dr Ravi Ranjan on Sunday kicked start a three-day pulse polio campaign in the state from the temple town of Deoghar by administrating a dose to an infant at Sadar Hospital.
The chief justice (CJ), along with his wife, reached Deoghar sadar hospital in the morning and inaugurated the drive by administering the vaccine to half a dozen infants.
“Our children are the future. It is our duty to keep them safe and its possible by making the pulse polio campaign successful . Everyone should extend their cooperation in executing this drive,” the CJ urged.
According to principal secretary, health, KK Soan, a total of 683,574 listed children across the state in the age group of 0 to 5 years would be covered under the three-day long campaign. All districts have been directed to administer maximum doses
onh the first day,” he said.
“A total of 48,000 health workers have been pressed in service to achieve 100% target of immunisation,” a senior official said.
Meanwhile, Deoghar deputy commissioner (DC) Manjunath Bhajantri said a total of 3.24 lakh children in the district were targeted to be covered under the drive. “We have
planned to cover 70% of the target on the first day at booths and the remaining under the two- day dorr-to-door programme,” he said.
In Dhanbad, civil surgeon Dr Gopal Das inaugurated the drive at Sadar Hospital. “We have a target of 433,249 infants, and for covering them, 1,920 booths have been set up across the district,” he said.
