Govt to give jobs to martyrs’ kin, says CM Soren

RANCHI: The government was exploring grounds to compensate martyrs of Jharkhand separate state struggle by providing jobs to their family members, said Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) working president and chief minister (CM) Hemant Soren on the occasion of the party’s 42nd foundation day celebratio­n at Gandhi Maidan in Dumka on Tuesday.

The year 2021 will be the year of employment generation, the CM said, announcing 75% reservatio­n against employment in government and private institutio­ns for local youths. The government was making laws in this regard, he said.

“The government was compelled to focus on fighting Covid-19 soon after coming to power. However, the situation was much under control in Jharkhand as compared to other states. The government is geared up to deliver the promises made during 2019 Assembly election,” the CM said.

Soren also informed that 350 aspirants of 6th Jharkhand Public Services Commission (JPSC). “We also made rules for the JPSC and Jharkhand state staff selection commission that was not in place,” he said. The JMM leader said his government also honoured the Tana Bhagats with an annual honorarium of ₹2,000 and a guest house for them.

The government was endeavoure­d to cover 15 lakh additional people under the Food Security Act by providing them green ration cards, he said, adding that the dhoti-saree-lungi-scheme would be relaunched soon.

Further counting his government’s achievemen­ts, Soren said about 28,000 acre land has been cultivated under Birsa Harit Gram Yojana and jobs were created under Nilambar-Pitambar Jalchajan yojana.

The government would soon bring a state sports policy to encourage sportspers­ons, he added. “It’s your government, we will act as per your wishes,” the CM reiterated.

Speaking on the occasion, JMM president and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren said achievemen­t of Jharkhand statehood was a milestone and said the onus of developing the state lies on the party’s new leadership.
