Excise raid: Spurious liquor worth ₹10 lakh seized
JAMSHEDPUR: The Jamshedpur wing of state excise department Monday busted an illegal mini bottling plant, where cheap and spurious liquor was being bottled in branded liquor company bottles.
The department also seized 144 cartons of such illegally bottled fake branded liquor bottles worth ₹10 lakh during the raids at Carriage Colony under Burmamines police station, officials said.

(Seraikela-Kharsawan) were arrested from the spot and sent to jail. Investigation is on to trace owners of the factory,” Arun Kumar Mishra, Jamshedpur assistant excise commissioner, said.
Mishra said the raid found that cheap and spurious liquor was being bottled as branded liquors and sold in the market. “This is not just illegal but also dangerous for human consumption,” added Mishra.
The Jamshedpur wing of the state excise department has so far seized 1924.88 litres of fake foreign liquor, 4,175 litres of illegally brewed country liquor and 63,000 kg of Mohua, arrested 22 persons, seized ₹3.40 lakh, three four-wheelers and two two-wheelers during so far this year.
Besides, efforts are also on to arrest 70 absconding accused in 142 cases, of which 43 have been investigated till date.
