11 GANG MEMBERS INVOLVED IN EXTORTION HELD IN LATEHAR

LATEHAR: In a strike against extortion network in coal fields of Latehar, Chatra and parts of Ranchi districts, the Latehar police in simultaneo­us raids has arrested eleven miscreants working for jailed gangsters Sujit Sinha and Aman Sao gang.

The eleven persons were arrested on Monday from Balumth police station area in Latehar, police said on Tuesday.

Latehar superinten­dent of police (SP) Prashant Anand on Tuesday said, “The arrested criminals worked for jailed Sujit Sinha and Aman Sao gang. This gang was involved in running extortion network in coal field areas in Latehar, Balumath and Chandwa police station areas.”

The SP said that the police were fully geared up to wipe this criminal gang from the district while releasing the posters of two of the most wanted criminals of this gang who were still at large.

Two farmers from Haryana died in unrelated incidents at the Singhu and the Tikri border protest sites on Delhi borders, police said on Tuesday. Harinder (50) died of possible heart attack at the Singhu border, while Deepak (28) succumbed to head injuries he received after falling off a tractor-trolley at the Tikri border, they said. Harinder, from Panipat’s Siwah village, was found motionless this morning near the Singhu border protest site, a Sonipat Police official said. “He was found dead and it is suspected that he died of a heart attack. However, once the postmortem report comes the exact cause of death will be known,” he said.

Deepak, who was from Haryan’s Rohtak district and was providing voluntary services at Tikri border protest site, died after sustaining serious head injuries when he fell off a tractor-trolley, police said on Tuesday.

Deepak was hospitalis­ed at PGIMS, Rohtak, where he died on Monday during treatment, Jhajjar district’s Aasoda Police Station SHO Kuldeep Singh said over the phone.
