BJP HOLDS MEET ON ASSEMBLY STRATEGY TO TAKE ON GEHLOT GOVT

-

JAIPUR: A day before the budget session of the state assembly, a meeting of the BJP legislators was held on Tuesday to formulate a strategy to take on the government.

The meeting, chaired by leader of opposition Gulabchand Kataraia, was attended by state BJP president Satish Poonia, deputy leader of opposition Rajendra Rathore and state BJP secretary (organisation) Chandrashekhar.

Former chief minister Vasundhara remained absent. Kataria had said on Monday that Raje would not attend the meeting as her daughter-inlaw is admitted in the hospital. Raje had not earlier attended the BJP core committee meeting.

Addressing the press after the meeting, Poonia said,

“The legislators have been advised to raise issues in the House with aggression. The government has given many issues on which it can be cornered. The government has come halfway, but the remaining half will be extremely difficult for it because people are suffering. We will ask the government for answers.”

Another senior leader of the party who attended the meeting said, “The biggest issues are employment, electricity and farmers. BJP will confront the government on problems of the farmers. The unfinished promise of farm loan waiver will be raised.”

He added that the floor management of the party was discussed in the meeting.

FORMER CHIEF MINISTER VASUNDHARA REMAINED ABSENT IN THE MEETING.

Two Belarusian journalists - Yekaterina Andreeva and Darya Chultsova- working for the Polish television channel Belsat went on trial in the capital Minsk on Tuesday on charges related to their coverage of mass protests in 2020, the Belarusian Association of Journalists said. They were arrested in November.
