State govt to sign MoU with KPR Mills in Coimbatore for 12K jobs

RANCHI: After Jharkhand public service commission (JPSC) notification on February 14 for the 7th civil service examination for 252 posts, the labour department in the JMM-led government is geared up for large scale employment of girls in the garment sector outside the state.
For this, the Jharkhand government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KPR Mills, an exporting garments company in Coimbatore, on February 22.
Confirming the development, labour secretary A Muthukumar said about 12,000 jobs that will be created in a year in phases.
He said the government acted on the company’s initiative and was ready to open up job avenues for women.

KPR Mills HR manager Thangavel said the company was waiting on wings to increase production and requires several hands, including freshers for its new mill in Tiruppur in Erode district. The company requires 50006000 hands this year, which will go up further, he said.
The recruited persons will be given free skill training on thread and cloth cutting to manufacture ready-made garments before absorbing, he said.
Those recruited will be on company rolls and will get all tertiary benefits as per company rules that include PF, gratuity on superannuation/retirement, medical benefits besides free housing and three meals a day free of cost.
The aspirants should not be less than 18 years. The maximum age is 30 years, said Thangavel.
Those interested for higher studies can get enrolled with national open universities.
