MUZAFFARPUR: Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) officials have decided to appoint regular principals in its all constituent colleges instead of appointing them on ad hoc or temporary basis.

BRABU vice-chancellor Hanuman Prasad Pandey has been authorised for appointing the principals after inviting applications via open recruitment. The BRABU administration has also given its nod for promotions of the teachers, which has been pending from over five years.

V-C said the decisions were taken during the syndicate meetings, held thrice in last one week.

“The move will help in creating a better academic atmosphere on the campuses which is not up to the mark due to absence of full time head of the colleges, which are reeling due to financial crunches though they have money in their accounts. But, ad hoc or in-charge principals can’t withdraw from the banks,” he said.

“The syndicate also passed resolutions related to the promotions and confirmations of the appointment of the newly recruited teachers during a session on Wednesday. Altogether 196 teachers’ appointments have been confirmed, while syndicate has given its permission to start eight new colleges in paramedical sector. However, inception of B Pharma course has been postponed due to technical reasons,” said Pandey.

The V-C said one of the syndicate members Harendra Kumar informed us that a prior permission from Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is required before starting the course. “So, we will first write to the PCI for permission,” Pandey said.
