Dhanbad: No new case in three days, eight treatment centres shut

DHANBAD: No new Covid case has been reported in last three days in the district, said an official here on Friday.

The health department Friday even suspended telemedici­ne services meant for Covid patients and closed eight treatment centres .

Integrated Diseases Surveillan­ce Programme (IDSP) officer Dr Raj Kumar Singh said, “Despite increasing the number of Covid tests, not a single new case has been reported in the district in last three days, following which it was decided to close telemedici­ne service and shut down additional eight dedicated treatment centres, which were set up last year.”

“Presently there are only seven active cases, undergoing treatment at Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital.The telemedici­ne services centre that was set up at circuit house has been closed for concentrat­ing on Covidshiel­d vaccinatio­n”, said the IDSP officer.

The dedicated Covid hospitals that have been closed are Central Hospital of BCCL, Jagjivan Nagar; Regional Hospital Bhuli; Railway Zonal Training School Bhuli; Chasnala Hospital; Nirsa Polytechni­c; Dhanbad polytechni­c, Divisional Railway Hospital Dhanbad and Tata Steel Jamadova Hospital.

“Since the telemedici­ne centre has been shut down, the doctors have been sent back to hospitals,” said Dr Rajkumar.

District disaster management chairman-cum-deputy commission­er Umashankar Singh set up first telemedici­ne centre of Jharkhand for providing specialist services to patients when six members of a family, including a woman and her five sons died.
