DHANBAD: Police on Monday arrested a woman on charges of killing her husband allegedly over family issues in Bokaro city.

The arrested accused was identified as Arti Devi, a mother of three children.

Officer in-charge of Sector six police station Mano Tudu said Devi was sent to jail on Monday on the basis of an FIR lodged under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code by father of the deceased, who was identified as Krishna Bagti .

As per the FIR, a heated argument ensued between Krishna and Devi over a trivial issue on Saturday night, police said. Devi allegedly hit him with a shovel on his head and locked him in a room till he died on Sunday.

Moreover, Devi allegedly did not allow to get him admitted to a hospital even though her children urged for the same. Following Krishna’s death, his daughters informed their grandfather Fani Bagti, who lodged a complaint with the police.

“When police reached, the three minor children said their mother killed their father. They also asked the police to take their mother away immediately, as they were scared she would also kill them,” said the officer in-charge.

The officer in-charge said police recovered the shovel used in the crime from Devi’s house, after which she was arrested. According to their neighbours, the couple used to fight frequently. Krishna was an auto-rickshaw driver.

When police reached the house, Devi’s children asked to take her away, as they were scared she would also kill them. MANO TUDU , Sector six police station OC
