Bodies of 3 more Jharkhand workers recovered in Chamoli
Ten more labourers from Jharkhand, who were working inside a tunnel of NTPC Ltd in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, are still missing
RANCHI: Bodies of three more Jharkhand labourers, who went missing following a glacial burst in Chamoli district of Uttrakhand on February 7, were recovered, officials said on Monday. As many as 14 labourers of the state had gone missing in the accident.
With this, a total of four bodies of Jharkhand labourers have been recovered so far. Earlier on February 18, body of one Vickey
Bhagat, a resident of Chotangi Tola under Bethat Panchayat of Lohardaga district, had been recovered.
The bodies of three labourers are being brought to their
respective villages. Labour superintendent of Lohardaga district Birendra Mahto, who was at the incident site of Chamoli district, said over phone, “Out of the three, two labourers
belonged to Lohardaga district, while one to Bokaro district. Their bodies were recovered on Saturday and postmortem examination was conducted on Sunday.”
The two labourers from Lohardaga were identified as Sunil Bakhla and Jyotish Bakhla. Another labourer from Bokaro was identified as Amrut Mahto.
Panchayat Samiti member, Bethat (Lohardaga), Anmol Tirkey, said, “The bodies are expected to be sent to the village by Tuesday morning.”
Ten more labourers, who were reportedly working inside the under-construction tunnel of NTPC Limited, formerly known as National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, are still missing.
The labour superintendent said search was still on for them.
Out of the 10 missing labourers, six are from Lohardaga district, while four from Ramgarh district, officials said.
Earlier, 29 people, who were stranded in Chamoli district after the glacial disaster, returned to Jharkhand safely by February 18.
