Deficiency in functioning of sadar hospital, SNMMCH needs urgent redress: Health secy

State health secretary KK Soan said on Thursday that deficiencies in Dhanbad sadar and Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH) need urgent redressal for streamlining the health services for people.
On his maiden visit to Dhanbad as health secretary, he inspected sadar hospital and medical college and discussed with civil surgeon ,SNMMCH principal, superintendent and senior faculty members for improvement of services.
“State cabinet has already cleared funds for upgradation of Dhanbad sadar hospital. If it’s condition gets better, obviously burden on medical college will be reduced”, said KK Soan.
Health secretary inspected all wards of medical college hospital. Checked registers of doctors and talked to patients about services. “I have requested doctors to be sensitive with patients as it cures them faster.”
KK Soan expressed resentment over dilapidated condition of wall in emergency ward and directed building construction department engineer for immediate renovation.
Health secretary said that he also asked to open Generic Medicine shops at sadar and medical college so that patients could get cheap drugs and start treatment under Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme. “Patients and hospital management both will be benefited from it. Patients will get treatment at one place while hospital management will get income to streamline infrastructure”, he said.
After inspecting hospital, health secretary held meeting with deputy commissioner Umashankar Singh, principal Dr Shailendra Kumar , superintendent Dr Arun Choudhary and faculty heads over streamlining infrastructure for increasing MBBS seats.
Soan also inspected hostels of medical college and directed eviction of students illegally living there, within 24 hours. Altogether 40 passed out MBBS students are living in the hostel illegally. He expressed resentment over the poor facilities and dilapidated condition of hostels , mess and dining room tables. “Doctors are living here, it should have some standard”, he said.
A delegation of Para medical students under Raju Mahto also handed over a memorandum to health secretary demanding recruitment on vacant posts in hospital.
