WASIM LURED THE MINOR GIRL ON THE PRETEXT OF MARRIAGE

JAMSHEDPUR: A 19-year-old boy was arrested on charges of abduction and rape of a 16-year-old girl, from his house in Maulanagar under Jagannathpur police station in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Thursday and the minor girl was safely rescued after a month, police said on Thursday.

“Accused Md Wasim was arrested this morning from his house and the minor girl he had lured away has been rescued safely. He returned with the girl from Hyderabad last night and was nabbed on a tip-off,” Pradeep Oroan, Jagannathpur deputy superintendent of police (DSP) said.

An FIR under Sections 363, 366 and 376 of IPC and 4/6 of POCSO Act was filed against Wasim on charges of raping a minor girl after abducting her on the pretext of marriage, on the basis of a complaint by the victim girl’s father on January 20. He has been sent to jail this afternoon, added Oroan.

As per police, Wasim had fled with the minor girl from a village under Jagannathpur police station on January 20.

He took her to Hyderabad. The SIT nabbed him through technological surveillance and informers as Wasim had sold his mobile phone to a person in Howrah.

“He confessed to his crime and said during interrogation that he first took the minor girl to Howrah via Tata (Jamshedpur), then to Bankura and then returned to Howrah again. After spending some days at these locations, he took the girl to Hyderabad where he was working,” said Oraon, adding that medical tests of the girl were being done.
