Amid surge, train carrying oxygen to reach Raj today
84 MT oxygen will be in addition to the oxygen allocated by Centre to the state
The first ‘oxygen train’ to Rajasthan will reach Kota from Jamnagar in Gujarat on Friday morning.
The oxygen is being supplied from Reliance company’s refinery-cum-petrochemical complex in Jamnagar, said Om Birla, the Lok Sabha speaker and member of parliament (MP) from Kota parliamentary constituency, on whose initiative the oxygen is being arranged for the state.
“The train carrying 84 metric tonne (MT) medical-grade oxygen (in three tankers) is coming to Kota after I talked to Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathani, who is associated with Reliance group,” he said. “The oxygen train will fulfil medicalgrade oxygen needs of the Covid-19 patients of Rajasthan, particularly all four districts of Kota division,” he added.
“Besides, an oxygen tanker carrying 28 MT medical-grade oxygen, especially for Kota, will also reach the district Jamnagar anytime today (Friday),” he further added.
Birla said the medical-grade oxygen being brought by the oxygen train and tanker will be in addition to the oxygen allocated by the centre government to Rajasthan.
“I have also talked to the railway board chairman for the transportation of medical oxygen from Jamnagar to Kota by the oxygen train,” the Speaker added.
Birla said that Rajasthan would soon get 1,67,000 Remdesivir injections from the Centre, while 250 oxygen concentrators and 150 regulators for Covid patients would be made
available through public contribution.
Reacting over the development, Kota district collector Ujjawal Singh Rathore said the train carrying medical-grade oxygen left for Kota from Jamnagar on Thursday afternoon. “The oxygen train carrying 84 MT medical-grade oxygen will reach Kota tomorrow (Friday) morning,” he said.
