1500 jabs on Day-1: All slots booked within half-an-hour

E SINGHBHUM, FOR THE TIME BEING, HAS SET A TARGET OF VACCINATIN­G 3600 PEOPLE IN 18-44 AGE GROUP ON A DAILY BASIS

A total of 1500 slots, opened for first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, were booked within 30 minutes at two centres in Jamshedpur on Wednesday evening. The third round of vaccinatio­n for 18-44 age group will start on Friday across Jharkhand.

East Singhbhum district, for the time being, has set a target of vaccinatin­g 3600 people in 18-44 age group daily at 13 centres, as it received 10000 doses of vaccines late Wednesday evening against a requisitio­n for 1.80 lakh doses for 10.94 lakh people in the same age bracket.

Jamsedpur (East Singhbhum) deputy commission­er (DC) Suraj Kumar had notified that booking of slots for vaccinatio­n will start from 5pm on Wednesday.

Within 30 minutes of opening, 1000 slots available at Loyola School and 500 slots at Tata Workers Union School at Kadma were booked on Wednesday.

Third round of vaccinatio­n will be starting across state from Friday The DC said on Thursday that 13 centres have been set up for vaccinatin­g people in the district.

Apart from the two centres mentioned above, another vaccinatio­n centre has been set up at St Roberts School in New Haludboni under Parsudih panchayat. Besides, 10 other centres have been set up at schools in Baheragora, Jadugora community building, Ghatshila, Patamda, Potka, Chakulia, Bodam, Gudabandha, Dumaria and Dhakbhumga­rh, where 2100 doses of Covishield and Covaxin will be given daily from tomorrow. Covishield will be given at 12 centrer while Covaxin will be given at one.

The state currently has 2.40 lakh vaccine doses though it has to vaccinate 1.97 crore people in 18-44 age group across 24 districts. Of them, a total of 23.18 lakh people will be vaccinated in Jamshedpur, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts under Kolhan division.

“Adequate quantity of vaccine doses will reach us soon. Every centre will have 3-4 vaccinatin­g teams and only registered beneficiar­ies will be entertaine­d. They need to bring ID proofs like Aadhaar, PAN, driving licence, passport, voter card, pension book, NPR smart card or bank passbook,” Dr BN Usha, district reproducti­ve and child health officer (DRCHO), said.
